The Imperial Remnant
The Imperial Remnant is an empire formed from the unified holdings and rump states of various Imperial Warlords who had ruled their own territories following the final collapse of the Galactic Empire in 11 ABY. As the galaxy's largest Imperial power, the Remnant adhere to the tenets of the former Galactic Emperor Palpatine's New Order, The Remnant maintains a strong military and limited public expression. The military is composed of the Imperial Navy, Imperial Army, and Stormtrooper Corps. Making up the Remnant's war machine are traditional Imperial vehicles such as Star Destroyers, TIE Series starfighters, and Imperial walkers. Led by a Council of Moffs and the Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet from its inception in 12 ABY, the Remnant eventually came to be later ruled by a Head of State, which eventually became a democratically electable position in a wave of sweeping reforms. The citizens of the Remnant remain under its rule by their own choice, preferring the order and efficiency of New Order policy.
The Remnant was born in 12 ABY when Grand Admiral Black led the United Warlord Fleets, themselves formed when Grand Admiral Black killed thirteen squabbling warlords and unified their holdings, out of the galaxy's Deep Core and united them with surviving Imperial factions in the Outer and Mid Rims. With a well-defined stretch of territory and several Star Dreadnoughts in his fleet, Grand Admiral Black was elected Supreme Commander by the Moffs of the Rim factions. He called the new state the true Empire, but it is also known as Blacks Empire or simply the Empire.
The Galactic Republic
The New Republic, also known as simply the Republic or the Alliance, is the government which was formed from the ashes of conflict during the waning years of the Galactic Civil War, absorbing the political and military leadership of the former Alliance to Restore the Republic after the Battle of Endor. The New Republic followed in the footsteps of the Galactic Republic, commonly known in that time as the "Old Republic," and fought the shattered forces of the Galactic Empire. Much like the "Old Republic" their seat of power and capital is the planet of Coruscant located in deep core space.
Following the end of the war with the signing of the Galactic Concordance, the Republic hastily passed the Military Disarmament Act seeking to prevent a repeat of galactic history, and instead focused on strengthening the forces of local planetary governments and reconstruction efforts to worlds ravaged by the conflict of the Galactic Civil war. With the threat of the Empire returning in 20ABY the Republic abolished the Disarmament Act and has spend the last 13 years building up their forces to contend with the Empire. The New Republic remains on friendly terms with a majority of galactic systems owing to the egalitarian processes that it embodies into its political message. The Republic runs under the rule of a Supreme Chancellor elected by the people as well as the votes of Senators elected by the people who represent each planet within the Republic.
Blacksun
Black Sun was a criminal syndicate that came into prominence during the Clone Wars as the Jedi Order focused more on military affairs and less on law enforcement. The Black Sun was allied with the Shadow Collective and its leader Darth Maul. The syndicate maintained bases on Mustafar and Ord Mantell and had many of the Falleen species as members. Although the criminal organization was active as far as 30ABY, the syndicate met it's end as a result of a battle against a rival crime family known as the Diranos.
Dirano Sydnicate
The Dirano first gain notoriety on the Galactic scale around 10ABY. Formed through the combined efforts of Kirkos and Mazzik Dirano, the family had strong Imperial ties and recruited noted Force Users into their ranks. Practitioners of the Darkside they were known for cruelty and murder as well service to the Empire. Around 23ABY Kirkos was dead due to disease and Mazzik Dirano met his end due to the betrayal of his apprentice Anzek Dirano who set the man up to be killed by Ban'nin Shen thus allowing him to assume the mantel as head of the "Family." Since then Anzek Dirano has built a criminal Empire under his family name and rules what used to be Hutt space with an iron fist. While known as the head of the Syndicate, rumors allude to someone ruling from behind the scenes.
Children of Mimir
The Children of Mimir were formed around 31ABY. Little is known about their ranking system, form of Government, or even alliances they hold throughout the galaxy, but they are seen as a hostile Force to the Empire and New Republic and seem to be ruled in the Mandalorian-style of a warrior culture rooted in honor and family clans above all else. The Faction is lead by Ban'nin Shen, an alien being of strange origins who rules from a forgotten planet known as Mimir and leads his people under the title of "Mandalore the Just" or simply, "The Lord of Mimir." The CoM are noted for their elusiveness, brutal and often unconventional hit and run tactics, advanced technology and unyielding loyalty to their fellow clan members (and culture as a whole). Fearsome warriors, the CoM consist mostly of Mandalorian Clans and remnant of the "Mimirian" race though they have grown to include others willing to assimilate into their honor-based culture.
Jedi Order
The Jedi Order has existed since as far back as recorded history knows. Traditionally they are seen as peace keepers and guardians of the Republic. Although they have a long history marred with wars against the Sith, the modern day Jedi very much resemble the Jedi Order of old which met it's end during the Clone Wars. They are ruled by a council of Masters with a Grand Master acting at it's head. After Luke Skywalker was seized and killed by the Empire in 30ABY, Master Saana Tai took up the mantle of her dead Master, Skywalker, and currently sits as the Grandmaster and continues to uphold the Jedi teachings of service to the lightside of the Force as well as the Republic.
The New Sith Order
The New Sith Order rose up due to the after math of the Battle of Endor. With the Empire in threat of fragmenting the most powerful of the Sith Inquisitors took the mantle of the "New Sith Emperor" and brought the remaining Dark Jedi under Imperial Service to his side. After reestablishing the old Sith Temple on Korriban, this mysterious figure controls the new Sith warriors from behind the scenes often using his apprentice Raziel Javpire, as his figure head and mouth peace. Currently the Sith work directly beneath the Imperial Remnant.
Empire of the Hand
The Empire of the Hand or EotH is a shadow empire created by Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Unknown Regions. It started out under the leadership of Thrawn himself, but after he died of old age in 25ABY, his second-in-command, Voss Thracks, took control of the EotH. The Empire of the Hand is an autocratic government secretly established in the Unknown Regions by Grand Admiral Thrawn of the Galactic Empire. With the support of Emperor Palpatine, Thrawn organized an expedition to explore and pacify the Unknown Regions while the Empire consolidated its rule over the known galaxy. Though the Hand was created as an extension of the Empire, its ideology is an amalgamation of Imperial ideals and Chiss principles. As a result, non-Human aliens are permitted to enter military service and unlike the Empire which seeks to subject all those around it, the EotH believes in honor and equal rights for all citizens and military officers although those who serve in the military are expected to follow strict protocol, maintain discipline and are punished harshly for crimes or insubordination. The main objective of the Hand was to defend the galaxy from various threats within the Unknown Regions, including extra-galactic invaders. However, with the attack on Chiss space due to the Empire, the EotH has returned to Chiss space.
